Experience
I received my bachelor's degree in physics from Goucher College. Shortly thereafter, I enrolled at the University of Colorado at Boulder and earned a master's degree in mechanical engineering. While working as a college student, I also helped tutor students in a variety of courses including physics and other science lessons. In addition, I also was in charge of a group tutoring session where I assisted roughly 15 students with homework problems and test prep. After finishing my university education, I taught science and outdoor education to children of various ages in Southern California. While I have experience teaching a number of subjects, I especially love to tutor physic and calculus. Not only do I find these subjects to be fascinating, I also enjoy teaching them in a way where students solve problems like they're solving a puzzle. As a teacher, I believe in having a mixture of conventional educational styles alongside creative, outside-of-the-box teaching. I believe in building relationships with my students, which is why I like to look at them as teammates instead of pupils. I find this approach helps students to feel more relaxed in the classroom, which boosts their confidence levels and makes them more likely to participate.
